Stuck in the slipstream August 17, 2006

I find this really annoying and was just wanting to vent my frustrations.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re walking down a street/corridor/supermarket aisle and come up behind somebody who is going a lot slower than you are. However, this is perhaps not that bad, unless it happens when you are perhaps only a matter of paces from your destination! You’re too close to rush past only to then stop right in front of the laggard who cuses you for being an impatient idiot, but it’s still far enough to be really annoying.

The reason I felt the need to share this was because I was in a supermarket heading for the tinned goods. I only needed a few items, so I thought I would just nip around, 5 minutes tops. However, I came up behind this couple who just seemed to be able to cover the entire aisle! There was just no way around without making a bit of a scene, so I was resigned to loitering behind the couple in question!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a chilled out person, I wasn’t in a rush, it was just that I was doing something a bit faster than someone else when our paths crossed. It’s more of a pet hate than anything else.

Does anyone else get irratated by this sort of thing?

There’s something worse than that. People walking two or three abreast on a narrow pavement/sidewalk forcing you to twist to avoid them or walk in the road.

If my husband and I are walking two abreast and see someone coming, to make room we walk in single file to allow them to pass. But some are so rude and stupid they never do the same. So now I just bump them as I pass. Even better, my husband bumps them. And he’s bigger and taller….

Ha ha! Yeah, that is really annoying as well. I would love to bump more people, but in today’s world you’re never quite sure how someone is going to react. They need to be taught though, it’s simple pedestrian etiquette!
